April Employee Spotlight
KENYA SNOWDEN: Kenya has worked various positions and in many of our homes for the past five years. She has continued to progress during her time here at Langton Green! Some of her favorite parts about working with our individuals is building relationships, knowing their interests, and making her two “retirees” happy during the day.
Kenya takes pride in her work and cares dearly about the individuals we assist. She goes above and beyond with no questions asked! She is open and willing to learn new things and she quickly picks up duties and responsibilities. She describes her mentoring style as “patient.” Kenya asks for help where needed and is always willing to learn from difficult challenges. During her free time, she loves doing makeup!
She’s a very respectful and responsible individual who advocates not only for the individuals at F3, where she is the House Manager, but for all of Langton Greens individuals. No matter what time it is or what has taken place, she makes herself available to them. A piece of advice that Kenya has for new employees is that you must have “patience, a caring and understanding heart, and be willing to learn.”
DREW HARMON: Drew is a prime example of staff growth from within for the past six years. Drew began his career at Langton Green as an Awake Overnight staff and then moved to a Support Staff position. He was later named House Manager of East Shore, then progressed to Program Assistant. He then became a Program Manager and has been in this role for almost one year. Drew’s favorite thing about working with our individuals is “helping them develop new life skills and improve on the life skills that they already have.”
During Drew’s free time, he likes riding mountain bikes and hiking with his children. If Drew had to eat one meal for the rest of his life, he would choose to eat plain spinach! Two items on Drew’s bucket list are bungee jumping and skydiving.
Drew is a very strong advocate for those whom we assist and his rapport built with staff has helped him build strong effective teams within each house he oversees. A piece of advice that Drew has for new employees is that “there is no cap or ceiling on your responsibilities working at Langton Green.”
On Wednesday, March 29 at Bertucci’s Restaurant in Annapolis, Langton Green held a Paint Nite fundraiser. For those not familiar with Paint Nite, it is an instructor-led class where they take you step-by-step to create a beautiful painting. Staff and individuals alike had a great experience and produced wonderful pictures.
Langton Green Awarded 2016 “Best of Annapolis” Non-profit Organization
ANNAPOLIS December 13, 2016 — Langton Green, Inc. has been selected for the 2016 Best of Annapolis Award in the Non-Profit Organizations category by the Annapolis Award Program.
Each year, the Annapolis Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Annapolis area a great place to live, work and play.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2016 Annapolis Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Annapolis Award Program and data provided by third parties.

LGI Community Farm Hosts 2nd Annual Spring Event
On June 4, we held Langton Green Community Farm’s 2nd Annual Spring Event. Along with rockin’ live music from Sparks & McCoy, there was face painting by Cristina De Avila and her friend, Meghan, hay rides by John Iaquinta, games, and a mini flea market. Stephanie Wemple and Michelle Kelly tended the grill masterfully, while Kim Breton and Karen Chase provided all the bake sale items. Thank you to Dinea Howe and Sharica Tasker for running the bake sale table. The lucky winner of the beautiful handmade quilt pictured above was Paula Mattson-Sarli – congratulations! We sincerely appreciated Providence Center and other community vendors who came out to show their support.
