Maryland State Senator and President of the Maryland Senate Bill Ferguson applauded the community partnerships that made extensive housing renovations at Langton Green possible and improved the quality of life for individuals at Langton Green. Sen. Ferguson represents the 46th legislative district. He was joined at Langton Green on Tues., Sept 16 by Md. Senator Shaneka Hensen when he shared his deep appreciation to the partners involved as thanked them for the hard work and dedication it took to make the renovations happen. Langton Green CEO Kimberly Breton and members of her executive team also addressed those gathered. Attendees included: Erin Karpewicz, CEO, Anne Arundel County Development, Inc. (ACDS and other key city and community leaders.
“I was thrilled to be in Annapolis yesterday to celebrate $1.7 million in funding for affordable housing with Senator Shaneka Hensen,” Sen. Ferguson noted in a recent online post. “This investment created new housing opportunities for Marylanders with developmental disabilities. Senator Hensen has fought for tenant protections, safer homes, and stronger communities.”
Senator Hensen, a long time supporter of Langton Green, also shared her enthusiasm for those present and the importance of affordable housing. When she was then a Md. State Delegate, Hensen backed a Bond Bill to sponsor outdoor patios at Langton Green. Today, residents have increased living space. They greet friends, eat outside, and enjoy nature.
Senators Ferguson and Hensen joined those assembled to tour the renovated residences and meet a few of the individual residents, who were proud to host this visit. The renovations, both inside and outside, enhance social connections and build community.
Affordable housing continues to be a high-profile issue in our county and state. Langton Green is deeply grateful for the support of leaders such as Maryland Senators Ferguson and Hensen.
The multi-year ACDS renovations at Langton Green show the power of community partnerships to address affordable housing in this county.
Langton Green has deep roots in the community and is proud of its community partnerships. Many organizations, local businesses, delegates, even Langton Green employees, supported the renovations –all this in addition to the overarching support from ACDS.
