It was a perfect afternoon for a picnic. Langton Green caregivers gathered earlier this summer with residents under the pavilion to enjoy each others company – along with a festive barbeque and dancing. Kendall Jones, a talented DJ and Langton resident, led several of the dances.
“We want to provide the things people need to improve their lives. This could be dental care, a vacation, television set, or even new patio furniture.” -Drew Harmon, residential manager
The annual Employee Give-Back Committee’s barbeque celebrates the many ways that Langton Green employees give back to the Langton Green community. Each day, staff bring professionalism and compassion to their roles at Langton. The Employee Give-Back Committee leads an annual giving program that raised $9,000 in 2018. Staff can elect to have contributions deducted from their paychecks on a regular basis or contribute in a lump sum.
All gifts are game changers
“Even the smallest gift from our employees can be a game changer,” says residential manager Andrew Harmon. Drew has been with Langton for 8 years. “We want to provide the things people need to improve their lives. This could be dental care, a vacation, television set, or even new patio furniture.”
Drew is a participant of the Employee Give-Back Committee, which considers all requests and needs when determining how to spend the funds that employees have donated. Employees can make a recurring or one-time donation through payroll deduction to Langton Green’s Give Back Fund; twice a year, staff request how these funds might be used to benefit individuals at Langton Green. The Employee Give-Back Committee, volunteers who are direct-care and administrative staff, review and determine which of the requests receive funding.
Staff receive more than they give
Brenna Palmer, program manager and a committee member, says the Employee Give-Back program has enriched her life, both professionally and personally.
“Giving back to people is truly meaningful. These individuals deserve these things yet they do not have the means to obtain them,” she says. “Yes. We are paid to work with folks, but they teach us love, kindness and generosity. I receive much more than I give.”

At Langton Green, staff give their hard-earned money back to the individuals they support. This is one of many things that make Langton Green distinctive. Such generous employees and warm family atmosphere are worth celebrating.
“When I joined the team at Langton Green I expected to be assisting and offering support to those in need. I find that I am receiving more from these people than I give.”
